Dark, earthy, broody black fruited aromatics show gunsmoke, graphite, a maritime salinity and nori seaweed top notes. The palate is crisp and precise, the acids pinpoint and fresh before melting away into the silky, fine grained mineral tannins. Power, subtlety, and true balance. Drink now to 2038+. On its ferruginous oolite, Ruchots has its own distinct character and remains a favourite terroir of mine. A bright ruby colour. Not so much nose though a suggestion of ripeness, and indeed there is a svelte deep red berry fruit on the palate that fills the mouth. Just a hint of blood orange and pepper from the admixture of some whole bunches. The most complete wine to date in this cellar in 2024. Drink from 2031-2038. Tasted Nov 2025.
