70-year-old vines. Cask sample. Serious stuff! Deeper in colour and much more concentration on the palate. Marries power and elegance – feels like this is aspiring to Grand rather than Premier Cru. Orange zest, some tropical notes, powerful saline undertow. (AWH)

Mid lemon yellow. This Genevrieres has all the hoped for herbal/mineral complexity, plus a certain amount of flesh which will refine and tighten up with the second winter. (Bottling in January? Not yet decided). A really high-class aftertaste, waves of fruit returning.

A beautifully attractive wine that marries terroir mineral spice, dried herbs and subtle yellow and green citrus notes with gentle leesy, mealy savoury hints and a subtle kiss of French oak. An incredible wine with such integration, class and pedigree, the balance simply stunning with an underlying energy, focus and power with a finish of note! Wow!
