Tempranillo. Vineyards in the villages of Rodezno and Labastida, average vine age 40 years. Hand-harvested. Optical sorting. Ambient yeasts. Two years ageing in American oak barrels made at the winery, with four traditional rackings carried out by candlelight.Tasted blind. Aromas of coffee and chocolate, with a lactic note over stewed plum. Very soft, rounded tannins, with sweet-textured fruit on the palate. Distinctly lactic finish with vanilla notes. Drinking well now. A classic style that consistently shows maturity and complexity, and good value at under 20 retail in Spain. GV (FC)
