Tasting Notes

Neal Martin 87-89

A selection of de-stemmed old vines in Pommard and Volnay aged in demi-muids, with a longer maceration and elevage, the 2020 Bourgogne Cote d Or Selection Pomone has a delightful, pure redcurrant and cranberry scented nose. The palate is well balanced with sour cherry on the entry, fine depth, quite fresh with good substance on the finish. [Neal Martin, 01/11/2021]

Anticipated maturity: 2024-2030

Bill Nanson 00+

2020 Bourgogne Selection Pomone All destemmed and with quite a long elevage in 600-litre barrels. This nose is a little compact today but there s the impression of silkiness in this aroma. Nice shape in the mouth, slowly mouth-watering and coming to a mix of florals and minerality in the finish – a wine that just keeps getting better in the glass – a lovely finish – easily the best part today *NO SCORE* [Bill Nanson Burgundy Report, 01/11/2021]

Jasper Morris 87-88

Mostly Pommard based, all destemmed, with longer maceration without punching down, raised in demi-muid, with no new wood. Rich purple, a lush style of fruit, ripe cherry notes. Big bouncing Burgundy with good acidity, the tannins will soon meld in. Finishes much fresher than the first nose suggests. 13% alcohol. Tasted Nov 2021. 4 stars, 87-88 pts [Inside Burgundy, 01/11/2021]

Burghound 86-88

Ripe aromas of poached plum, black raspberry and warm earth give way to round, rich and nicely voluminous flavors that deliver solid depth and length on the mildly rustic finish. This is really quite pretty and should drink well young but also be capable of reward 2 to perhaps 5 years of keeping. Producer note: Anne Parent, who has directed this 10 ha domaine since 1998 where 90% of the production is in red, told me that "2020 is a remarkable vintage in the sense that such a warm and seriously dry growing season could produce such wonderfully fresh and energetic wines. The vegetative cycle began early and there was some shatter with the pinot that affected yields somewhat. We picked from the 25th of August and while the fruit was super-clean, yields were about average at around 35 hl/ha, which is lower than the 39 hl/ha we obtained in 2019. The potential alcohols were mostly in the 13 to 13.5% range with one wine that hit 13.8%. I again used a relatively high percentage of whole clusters while doing a relatively soft vinification as a more aggressive approach would probably have produced too much tannin. I am very excited by the prospect of seeing how the 2020s will age as I firmly believe that they are true vins de garde." I was very impressed with the quality I found here, and these are wines to search for. As is usually the case, Parent noted that the 2020s will be bottled without fining or filtration.
