Having been introduced to so many incredible winemakers over the years around the globe, it’s a pleasure to be able to offer them through Friends of musigny. This is a very special part of our business as we love selling wines from exquisite producers who simply stand out as special and unique, who have managed to produce wines that touch your soul.
People such as Paris Sigalas , who single handedly put Assyrtiko , Santorini and Greece on the map as his wines are so elegant and fine and truly represent what can be achieved through perseverance in a hot dry climate, with grapes fighting for every drop of water, surviving just through the moisture of Santorini’s early mornings and the love of a 72 year old man who is always hungry for knowledge and whose love of his craft has made him the ‘king of Greece’…respected by all who meet him…peers, journalists and winemakers. So much so, he has been asked by the great Jean Yves Bizot to help him plant a vineyard in the Cyclades. That’s a true Friend of musigny.
Then, there are our Friends at Fattoi in Tuscany. This wonderfully cited estate produces gorgeous Brunello. This under the radar estate began its life as an acorn farm in 1964. Indeed, they still produce acorns. The family’s love of wine led them to produce Brunello after planting some Sangiovese grapes. They have never looked back. Their wines are coveted by enthusiasts who seek out quality and authenticity. It truly is a labour of love. So much so that that it’s well known that the Gaja family have tried to buy the estate as the soil here is truly wonderful and it sits next to Gaja’s Renninia estate…again, with top scores and wine that startles, this is another true Friend of musigny.
